"Wish Upon A Star" by Herb Alpert

Herb Alpert is a legendary jazz trumpet player, musician, producer, artist, and philanthropist. He was born in Los Angeles, California, in 1935, and began playing the trumpet at the age of eight. Alpert is known for his extraordinary musicianship, which has earned him five number one hits, nine Grammy Awards, fifteen gold albums, and fourteen platinum albums.

He has sold over 72 million records and is one of only two musicians to hit number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart as both an instrumentalist and a vocalist. Alpert led the band Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass in the 1960s and co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss during the same decade. Alpert has recorded 28 albums that have landed on the Billboard 200 chart, five of which became number one albums. He is still making and performing great music well into his 80s and recently celebrated his 88th birthday.

Despite his age, Alpert continues to tour with his wife Lani Hall, and recently completed a sold-out week of dates at London's legendary Ronnie Scott's. He is known for never resting on his laurels and is always moving forward. Alpert is also well known in the world of visual art, painting, and sculpture, and believes that good art is very spontaneous, much like jazz.

To keep jazz alive, the Herb Alpert Foundation, which he co-founded with his wife, has awarded over $200 million in grants to support music education programs in the United States. Alpert is a man with a profound passion for music and the arts, and his extraordinary career has left an indelible mark on the music industry.

Wish Upon A Star

Herb Alpert is set to release his 49th studio album titled "Wish Upon A Star" on September 15th, 2023. The album will feature new takes on classic songs from various artists such as Jerry Reed, Elvis, The Beatles, Cat Stevens, and The Carpenters among others. The album was produced by Alpert himself and recorded at his home in Los Angeles.

The album will continue to showcase Alpert's unmistakable trumpet playing style, which has been a hallmark of his music for over six decades. The album will be released by Herb Alpert Presents, Alpert's own record label.

The album will include the new single "East Bound And Down". Alpert has been extraordinarily prolific since disbanding the Tijuana Brass in 1969, creating a body of work that links the energy of global dance rhythms to the spirit of jazz improvisation.
